General Information

  • Pre-Registration on AAPS Moodle: May 1st – June 24th
  • Parent Informational Meeting: June 17th at 7:00 pm, Huron High School
  • Registration at Huron High School: June 19th - June 24th
  • Classes Begin: June 26th
  • Orientations for Online courses: 
    • Tuesday, June 25th at 6pm (This orientation is only for students taking online math)
    • Tuesday, June 25th at 7pm (Non-Math Students)
    • Wednesday, June 26th at 9am (Math and Non-Math Students)
    • Wednesday, June 26th at 1pm (Math and Non-Math Students)
  • Withdraw Deadline: June 28 th
  • Classes End: July 31st

Instructional Methods

Online (OL)

  • All Coursework is offered online via the moodle or E2020 with a qualified instructor. Students may take either one semester or both semesters of the year-long classes. The only exception is the first semester of Algebra I, which students may not take online.
  • Attendance is required at one Orientation session and at all required proctored tests. Students who fail to complete the proctored testing, regardless of the reason, will forfeit the credit, and all fees, and will be dismissed from the Summer School Online Program.

Online Bended (B-OL)

  • Online Instruction and required Face-to-Face Instruction
  • Attendance is required at one Orientation session, all required proctored tests, and at all Face-to-Face class meetings. Due to the accelerated nature of the Summer School Program, it is vital that students be in attendance for each face-to-face meeting. Any student who accumulates more than one (1) absence in the face-to-face meetings, regardless of the reason, will forfeit the credit, and all fees, and will be dismissed from the Summer School Online Program.

Pre-Registration on the AAPS Moodle

In the event that our classes become full, we will use the pre-registration date and time for starting a wait list for full classes. Students will need to access the AAPS Moodle web site to pre-register for a summer online class.

  1. To access the AAPS Moodle web site, go to http://moodle2.wash.k12.mi.us/aaps/.
  2. Under High Schools, select Summer School.
  3. Select the Online Summer School 2013 link.
  4. Students will need to enter their Username and Password.
    AAPS students: Use your existing server login (yearofgraduationlastnamefirstnamemiddleinitial) and password (studentnumber). Sometimes a student’s middle initial is not used at the end of the username.
    Non-AAPS students: Email the Moodle Administrator at moodleadmin@aaps.k12.mi.us to request a username and password for registering for the Online Summer School program. Please include the student’s name, year of graduation, email, and school district.

Summer School Registration Dates and Times

Huron High School (Library Lobby Entrance)
Wednesday 6/19: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Thursday 6/20: 8:00 am – 10:00 am and 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Friday 6/21: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Monday 6/24: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Tuition Fee / Refunds

  • $250 per class for AAPS students; $300 for non-AAPS students
  • Tuition fee is due at the time of registration. Cash, check, Visa and MasterCard accepted.
  • The withdrawal deadline is June 28th . Students, who withdraw from their class by the deadline, will receive a full refund of the tuition fee. You must notify Anthony Lauer at lauera@aaps.k12.mi.us by the deadline to withdraw from a class. No refunds after June 28th .

Orientations

Students are required to attend orientation. Parents are welcome but not required to attend.

Students will receive access to their online class at the orientation and not before.

Proctored Testing

Proctored Testing is when a student completes a test from their online class in the presence of an online summer instructor. All midterm and final exams must be proctored. All students must have their midterm proctored no later than July 12th and their final exam proctored no later than July 31st. Students may select the proctored test session that fits their schedule. Students may arrive at any time during the test session as long as they are able to complete the test by the ending time.

Wednesday July 10th : 11:30 am – 2:30 pm

One proctored test must be completed by July 12th.
Wednesday July 17th : 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
Friday July 19th : 8:00 am –11:00 am
Wednesday July 24th : 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
Friday July 26th : 8:00 am –11:00 am
Tuesday July 30th : 11:30 am – 2:30 pm

All proctored testing must be completed by July 31st.

Transportation

Transportation to the orientation, proctored tests, and face-to-face meetings is not provided by the Ann Arbor Public Schools. The AATA will run all summer. AATA bus schedules will be available during registration.

Summary Instructions for Enrolling in a Summer 2012 Online Class

Step 1: Complete the Pre-Registration Form

Step 2: Print the Pre-Registration Form. Student and parent must sign the form.

Step 3: Register and Pay Fee

Bring your signed pre-registration form to the Summer School registration at Huron High School. Submit your pre-registration form and tuition fee of $250 (non-AAPS students is $300) during the hours below.

Step 4: Student and Parent/Guardian Attend an Orientation

Note: Students may only enroll in a total of 2 summer classes. All summer classes count for the total. For example, a student may not take 1 traditional class and 2 CR classes.

Available Summer 2013 Online Courses

The courses listed below are available for students to take this summer. If a course contains A/B, this means the course is a year long course and the A indicates first semster (.5 credit) and B indicates second semester (.5 credit). Students can register for both semester or just one of the semesters. Students are allowed to take up to 1.0 credit in summer school, which is two semester long courses.

Tuition:

  • $250 in-district per semester course, scholarships are available; $300 out-of-district
  • Students registering for both semesters of a year long online math course will pay $250 at registration and then the other $250 when they start the next course. In order to complete the second semester, students will need to finish the first semester course by July 19th.  This only applies to online math since students can not work on both semesters concurrently.
