Ann Arbor Schools Farm To School Collaborative

The Farm to School Collaborative embraces local and regionally grown produce as a healthy choice for students and a way to educate students on the availabiiity of fresh foods in their area. Using local food in our school food service also supports local and regional farms in their efforts to be sustaining contributors to our local economy. Over the past several years, FTS has:

  • Established Farm Fresh Features (see below)
  • Provided elementary school produce carts, which are stocked daily with fresh and local (when available)  salad bar items. The carts are available to all students regardless if they pack a lunch or buy a hot lunch.
  • Launched the "Farmer in the Classroom" program (now Coordinated by Agrarian Adventures)
  • Supported school gardens
  • Incorporated gardening into Rec & Ed summer camps, in particular Green Adventures Camp
  • Promoted National Farm to School Month
  • ....And more!

Parents can support these efforts through donations on the AAPS MyPaymentsPlus website: http://www.mypaymentsplus.com
