IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS TAKING A 2013 AP TEST:
Cell Phone Policy - IMPORTANT !!!!!!
Please help us enforce the College Board policy regarding use of cell phones during AP testing. We are obligated to follow College Board policy and report any violations. If we fail to do so, we risk the opportunity of Ann Arbor Public Schools being able to offer AP testing in the future, which would affect ALL students wanting to take an AP test. Students are not allowed to bring electronic equipment (cell phones, tablets, iPods, computers, etc.) into the testing room / testing area. Per College Board, “if a student is observed in possession of or using a cell phone, or electronic device in any manner at any time before testing ends, including at break, he will be dismissed from testing and the device may be confiscated pending an investigation”. College Board makes all final determination regarding cancellation of a student’s test score.
Many tests have well over 100 students, and we do not have the resources available to hold and return all cell phones at the end of each test. Any cell phones that we have to confiscate, will have to be picked up at Pioneer Career Center the following day. Therefore, students should NOT bring cell phones into the building. Cell phones should be left in the car or at home for the day. Cell phones should not be hidden/ left unattended in the lobby area. If a student is being dropped off, arrangements for pick up should be made prior to arriving at the test site. Most morning tests finish between 11:30 am - 12:00 pm. Most afternoon tests finish between 4:00 - 4:30 pm. There is a courtesy phone in the Student Center available for student use.
Students work hard all year taking classes and preparing for these tests. Do not let them jeopardize all that hard work and effort by bringing cell phones. Please speak with your child about leaving his cell phone at home or in the car during testing. Do not encourage students to disregard these rules simply because you want your child to call you when the test is over.
Registration and fees:
Registration will begin Jan. 30 and end March 1. Fee: $100.00 per test
A minimum of $25.00 per test non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration. Any balances due must be paid by March 28. Exams not paid for will be given to people on a waiting list.
Chinese & Japanese Language Tests
Space is limited for these tests and registration is based on the date and time of sign up with preference being given to seniors. Students must register by calling Mrs. Williams at 994-2116 to sign up. The registration deadline for these tests is February 15.
A practice session will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at the WISD computer lab from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm. This is an early release day for Ann Arbor students, so they should arrive no later than 1:30 pm in order to have enough time to go through the practice session.
Orientation
Your child will complete some pre-administration materials during an Orientation in his/her AP class on the dates listed below. On that day, he will receive list of test dates & location, test day procedures (do’s & don’ts), and a map to the locations. If he misses the Orientation, he will have to call Mrs. Williams at Pioneer (994-2116) to arrange a time to come there to complete the Orientation. This must be completed before testing starts.
