READING WEBSITES

Even though you must "join," the ebook service is free and worth it for young readers. Downloadable and printable, their ebooks are designed to be folded and assembled to make a 16-page book. The books have 16 pages of teaching notes to supplement the story and 20 Funsheets with activities relating to the story. There is a color version of most of the stories to read online.

There are a variety of levels to choose from. The higher levels include poetry and most higher levels include writing response prompts. Don't hesitate to check out the additional links at the bottom of the page.

 

WRITING WEBSITES

This is a wonderful resource to introduce young children to the mechanics of writing. There are plenty of reproducible activities for practicing tracing, coloring and you could even use the tracing pages to practice cutting.

Picture story starters as well as other things young readers might like. Don't be intimidated by all the ads requiring you to scroll down as much as ½ of the page to see what you are looking for. Look for the shapes with lines inside for writing. This sites requires Flash Player in order to download the worksheets

This is a list of journal entry or writing prompts. Many lend themselves to the 5 paragraph essay format.

This is a source for math worksheets ready for printing. It is a great source for all K-5 students. It offers Kindergarten sheets for tracing numerals to word problems involving money.
