Bryant Elementary Media CenterCheck Out PolicyEach week, students will visit the Media Center with their classes to receive instruction and to have the opportunity to look at and check out books. Each student will be allowed to check out 1-2 books during their regularly scheduled class visit if that student is in good standing in the media center. A student who is in good standing is one who has returned their books on time and who has behaved in an appropriate manner during class time and who has treated their books with respect and care. Students will be given instruction in book care and in proper library manners and behavior. The specific checkout policies by class are as follows: Kindergarten: one book a weekKindergarteners will be allowed to checkout books beginning in October of the new school year. Students will be allowed to check out one book for a period of one week. Students who wish to keep their book for longer than one week may renew it for an additional week. Students may check out a new book when their previous book has been returned.First Grade: one to two books a weekFirst graders will be allowed to checkout one book beginning in September of the new school year. Students will be allowed to check out one book until they have successfully returned a book to the media center ten times. Once students have demonstrated an understanding of the return policy and shown responsibility in returning their books, they may begin to check out two books for a period of one week each. Students may renew their books for any length of time. If students return just one book, they may still check out another book but total checkout is not to exceed two books at any one time. Students will be allowed to check out a total of two books beginning in January regardless of their previous return book record.Second Grade: one to two books a weekSecond graders will be allowed to checkout one book beginning in September of the new school year.
