Friday March 19th, 2010 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEACH VOLLEYBALL GAMES: Friday: Mullice vs. Shymanski Baskey vs. Jender Jensen vs. Fleming Monday: Dunn-Mason vs. Zera Donnelly vs. Brooks Harris vs. Hotaling --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Students who enjoy bicycling and walking can support Safe Routes to School by making posters and coming to a planning meeting, next Monday after school. The meeting will be in Mr. Gaynor's room, 136. Contact Mr. Gaynor if you are interested or have questions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the weather gets warmer and students are inclined to wear shorts - remember they MUST come down to the end of your fingertips when arms are extended at your sides. Leggings must have a top that comes to fingertips also. Clothing that is TOO short will require a change or you will be given a pair of shorts to wear. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have a new club that will meet on Thursdays - Heroes in the Hallway If you wish to be a member of this club report to room 142 at 3:00 pm. The club will be finished in time for you to take the late bus home. If you want to be a part of this club but can't make it today, let Mrs. Hannaford know in the main office. Hope to see you there! "To the world you may be one person; however, to one person you can be the world." BE A HERO IN THE HALLWAY!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clague's top volleyball teams did very well at yesterday's games beating Forsythe in all games. The C team won with great serving and hitting. The B team also won on their serves and hits. The A team won in a close game with great blocking and serving. The next game is Tuesday against Tappan. Come support the Cougars !!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the primary jobs of principals and staff at Clague is to maintain a safe environment for students. Safety is the number one reason why schools have rules. During lunch this year we have had daily problems. Students disrespect adults, fail to clean up after themselves, throw things in the garbage but miss and leave those things all over the floor, bring food to the gym spilling food on the expensive gym floor, run around upstairs disturbing other classes and purposely damaging school property (as you know students are not allowed upstairs in part because there is no supervision). There have been many attempts to discuss and discipline specific students, have more adult supervision and announcements. Unfortunately more and more students continue to disregard the lunch rules. Splitting school lunch allows the adults to better supervise and ensure that students and school property are safe. When studentsd respect adults and follow the rules it shows us that they are ready to embrace more freedom and responsibility. When we do not see respect and rule following it means we need to supervise more closely. So, "make it a great lunch or not, the choice is yours." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March is National Nutrition Month !!! Did you know that . . . Most of the fruit we eat travels a long way - usually from California or Mexico. Try checking out your local food section or a farmer's market to get food grown locally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It has ALWAYS been inappropriate to throw food and beverages on the floor. NOW it is extremely dangerous when this happens because we have a blind student who cannot see what is on the floor and can become seriously hurt. We will be taking a hard stance on this issue. Do NOT throw any food or beverages, ever!!!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There should be NO pushing, shoving, chasing in the hallways. In the morning, if you are a 6th grader please stay in the 6th grade area. 7th and 8th graders stay in the main lobby. Please make sure you are off the entrance mat in the main lobby in morning. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember students, you are NEVER to have electronic devices at school. NOT before school or after school. NO IPOD's, MP3, game boys, etc. Turn off all cell phones until 3:00 pm when school is out. Do NOT leave phone on vibrate, if you need to make a phone call use the Blue House office phone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clague does have plastic bottle recycling in the lunch room and teacher's lounge - look for the blue container!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER THE BLUE AND GREEN HOUSES HAVE BEEN COMBINED. BOTH MS. MIDURA AND MS. SOMERS ARE IN THE BLUE HOUSE (1ST FLOOR). ALL STUDENTS SHOULD SIGN IN AND OUT OF SCHOOL FROM THERE. PARENTS CAN CALL IN ABSENCES, TARDIES OR LEAVE MESSAGES FOR STUDENTS THERE ALSO; 994-1978 OR 994-1980. THE COUNSELORS HAVE THEIR OFFICE IN THE OLD IC ROOM (AT THE BACK OF THE MAIN OFFICE). THE OFFICES CAN BE REACHED BY GOING PAST THE MAIN OFFICE AND TAKING A RIGHT AT THE END OF THE HALL, THE OFFICES WILL THEN BE ON THE RIGHT ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Words of Wisdom:
"Remember what you learned in kindergarten? Share everything. Play fair. Not hit people. Put things back where you found them. Say you're sorry when you hurt someone. Hold hands and stick together. Follow the Golden Rule." "To the world you may be one person; however, to one person you can be the world."
DETENTION IS TUESDAY IN ROOM 214
