Dicken Elementary School Safety Patrol

Duties:

4th and 5th graders make up our safety patrol. Each safety while on duty will be wearing a yellow safety belt. While on duty, safeties will be helping students cross our streets safely on their way to and from school, and courteously open doors for parents and students coming into or leaving the building. Our Safety Patrol also puts the flag up and down each day and helps the kindergarten kids walk to their buses.

Rewards:

On the days when the windchill is below 20 F, those safety patrols with outside posts will find a cup of hot chocolate waiting for them in the kitchen when they come to school. At the last safety lunch in June, everyone who has fulfilled his/her responsibilities on the Safety Patrol during the year is invited to a pizza lunch.

Off Duty Days:

The only times you won’t find fifth and fourth-grade students crossing others is on days when the windchill is less than 0 degrees F, when the streets are too icy to be safe, or during a thunderstorm. Otherwise, you’ll find all of the Safety Patrol members in service to the community.
