Welcome to First Steps in Ann Arbor

     Did you know a child's brain is 85% developed in the first 5 years of life?  Every experience helps develop this foundation.  First Steps provides classes to help children socialize with others; staff visits to support you and your family; current parenting ideas and much more.

   First Steps Washtenaw, based on the national program Parents as Teachers, is an innovative partnership between home, school and the community.  It is open to all families with children from birth until kindergarten entry who live in the Ann Arbor School District.

     The basic yearly membership fee is $384 and is paid quarterly.  We divide your annual fee into 4 equal payments; some months will have 5 weeks of classes, others 4 or 3. The fee is the same each month.  Quarterly bills are mailed in August, November, February and May in the amount of $96.  This means it costs only $32 a month to participate.  Partial and full scholarships are available.

    To join First Steps. please come to the next scheduled orientation.  The program is explained and pictures of our class sites are shared before you sign up and then pay your membership fee.
