Twelve Ann Arbor Huron students and two teachers participated in the May 4-8, 2011 National Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Washington, D.C. 2011.
All twelve Ann Arbor Huron students return from the BPA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. 2011 in the top ten as National Finalist with honors.
The two teacher advisors who accompanied these stude nts to Washington, DC also received National Honor Advisor Recognition —Diane Stocker-Bendersky for her 20 years of service, dedication and excellence and Christy Garrett for her 15 years of service, dedication and excellence.
Huron had 4 National Champions: John Han winning 1st in—Management Marketing and Human Resources (an individual event) and Stephen Zhu, Oscar Chen and Chenxi (Robert) Pan winning 1st in the Financial Analyst Team (team event.)
Jesse Burrison won 2nd in Computerized Accounting (individual event); Jing Chai won 2nd in Extemporaneous Speech (individual event), Bradley Goodyear won 3rd in C++ Programming (individual event) John Han also won 4th in Banking and Finance (individual event) Stephen Zhu won 5th in Insurance Concepts (individual event) Megan Hang won 6th in Basic Office Systems and Procedures (individual event) Renee Zhao won 7th in Legal Office Procedures and– Zubin Khan, Kevin Mei, Bradley Goodyear and Amy Liu won 10th place in Web Site Design Team (team event).
Our Ambassador Award winners include: Jing Chai, Amy Chang, and Sheeba Pawar. The Torch Awards Program frames and guides a BPA member’s leadership and service to their chapter and community. Students complete activities in the seven Torch categories—Leadership; Service; Cooperation; Knowledge; Friendship; Love, Hope, Faith; and Patriotism—then log their activities in an online Torch Résumé. An Ambassador is defined as "a diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative of the organization." Approximately 5,500 students and advisors from throughout the United States participated in Business Professionals of America’s 45th National Leadership Conference. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and tours of Anaheim sights and attractions! The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national contests. Our Historic opening general session took place May 4th on the lawn of the Washington Monument.
