Fourteen students recently attended the BPA National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois April 24th - April 29th. Overall, a total of 8 students placed at the national level!

Once again, Huron High School students did exceptionally well in the Southeast Michigan Science Fair held on Saturday, March 11 at Washtenaw Community College.
Huron students received three of the five top awards in the fair and first place in six of the nine catagories. Huron students won a total of 41 awards.
The top awards went to:
Lorna Barron: 1st Place Mathemtics/Computer Science, 3rd Place Grand Award
Aaron Brodkey: 1st Place Enviornmental & Earth Science Award, Grand Award
Congratulations to Huron High School students Hao Hao Wang Pontius and Samantha Liu who won first place in Division 4, the second highest level, at the 2012 Michigan Japanese Quiz Bowl competition on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU).
They study Japanese at Ann Arbor’s Ohara Language Institute and were one of 55 teams from across the state who competed in six different divisions in a quiz-bowl type format, exercising their knowledge of Japanese spoken and written language and culture.
Instructor (and Huron parent) Kaori Ohara said, “It was definitely a team effort. The beauty of our teams was that everyone contributed. It was definitely not a one-man-show….The questions were not easy, but the students did well even under pressure.” Ohara Language Institute sent three teams to the competition, all of whom won first in their respective divisions.
Huron sophomore Chelsea Young won 3rd Place at the SESI Midwestern Regional Entrepreneurship Conference held at Eastern Michigan University, Friday, February 10, 2012. Chelesa received a $500 cash prize award for her winning business plan. Her business, Organique, is a 100% Eco-friendly clothing business for young professional women.
Honorable mentions went to Luis Gago, senior, for his business plan, What Women Want/What Men Want , a website that puts opiniative data into useable format. and Joaquin Aguero, sophomore, for his business plan Mighty Honey, energy bars and protein bars that are organic and preservative free.
