TECH BOND INFO, VOTE MAY 8
The Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking approval of a technology bond on
Tuesday, May 8, that would raise $46 million over the next 10 years. The cost for homeowners would be about 0.5 mills or $50 per year for a family in a home with a market value of $200,000. The district needs this bond because the dedicated technology dollars from the 2004 bond are now exhausted.

This new technology bond will largely replace and bring up to par the existing technology in our schools. In collaboration with leaders in our community, tech experts from Google, Microsoft and Menlo Innovations are helping the district to develop its plan for technology use in the next five to 10 years.
Every school will receive upgrades, with such items as new laptops, mobile devices, printers and document cameras. Many of the district’s computers are so out of date that they don’t support current software. Also, the district’s wireless and network infrastructures will be expanded so that wi-fi access in every building gives teachers and students faster and more powerful access to data.
I hope you will read the attached flyer…and forward this e-mail to your friends.
Investing in our kids really is investing in the future of our community.

PTSO Request:
Our current Huron PTSO Leadership Team is wonderful, but we are getting 'old' with our youngest children getting closer to graduation. We have several PTSO Board positions open for next year, and our final PTSO meeting of the year is on May 7. We need one Co-Treasurer, a Vice President, and one President or two Co-Presidents. Also, we need a Treasurer for the Graduation Party group. Please send names of parents/guardians that come to mind to serve our school community. Our nominating committee will be glad to contact them to see if they are willing to step into one of many roles available. Email 2xmichelle@sbcglobal.net.

We have an educated and generous parent population. Please help the PTSO to identify new leaders by nominating parents/guardians for the Huron PTSO Board, or contact me directly if you are willing to serve.
Thanks and Go Rats!
