STUDY SESSION IN MEDIA CENTER JAN. 21
Huron is sponsoring Saturday School, "Raising Academic Achievement", this Saturday January 21st. Raising Academic Achievement will be held in the Media Center from 8:00 to 11:00 am on both dates.
 
CHALLENGE DAY STUDENT LEADERS APPLICATION - ASAP
11th & 12th graders who have previously participated in Challenge Day, it's not too late to turn in your student leader application for the next Challenge Day scheduled for March 19, 2012.  Applications should be turned in to Candyce Rozelle-Williams in office 6112 ASAP!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER NEWS
Attention all students interested in improving their ACT test scores. Registration begins today for the next ACT prep class. Classes start this coming Monday @ 2:30 in the college career center, Please see Mr. Wright for more information.

WINTER FORMAL TICKETS ON SALE THIS WEEK & NEXT WEEK
You are invited to BE MINE- a Coming Home Valentines Day Dance!
Bring your Valentine to this years' Winter Formal! Coming Home will be taking place on Friday, February 3rd, from 8 to 11 p.m. in the cafeteria. Purchase your tickets this week and the week after final exams to get a free shirt! Tickets will be sold for $15.00 during lunch - $20 for one or $35 for a couple.  Price includes an awesome t-shirt! If you have any questions, feel free to ask Natalie Nagpal or Hani Elhor. All proceeds go to support the Class of 2013 (graduation :-)

CAR RAFFLE TICKETS ON SALE AT ICE CUBE JAN. 21
As most of you know, Huron is in the midst of a car raffle to benefit the Huron Athletic Booster Club, Huron Music Association, Huron PTSO and the Huron administration student fund......in other words ALL of our kids attending Huron High School. The drawing will take place on February 11, 2012.  As of last week, 1359 tickets have been sold totaling $23,770. This Saturday, JAN. 21 we have an opportunity to help push tickets sales even further. Tickets will be on sale at the Ice Cube from 2:30- 3:50 pm, during intermissions and after the game.  For questions, contact Marci Gilchrist marcig@comcast.net
 
BOOSTER CLUB ANNUAL MEETING JAN. 23
The Annual Meeting of the Huron Athletic Booster Club will be on Monday January 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. We encourage all paid members of the Booster Club to attend. Please note that only paid members of the Huron Athletic Booster Club are eligible to vote on issues requiring one. When you arrive at the meeting, please sign in next to your name as it appears on our paid membership list. If you are not yet a paid member, and would like to become one, please click on the link below to fill out the membership form and bring it and a check for $40 to the Annual Meeting. COACHES VS CANCER JAN. 27 Basketball
On Friday January 27th, the Huron Athletics Relay for Life Team, in conjuntion with the Boys and Girls  Basketball Programs, will be hosting a Coaches vs Cancer night.  The Freshman Boys/JV Girls will kick off at 4pm followed by the JV Boys at 5:30.  The night will be highlighted by the Huron Girls/Boys Varsity teams taking on Skyline in the Dome at 5:30 and 7.  We will be raising money for our fight against cancer with a 50/50 raffle, Huron Hoops for Hope T shirt sales ($10) , and possibly an auction of special items.
    We would love for everyone to attend, learn about our Relay for Life Team, and support our cause.  If you would like to contribute an item to our auction or simply donate please contact Susan Zaske at szaske13@gmail.com.  Also, if you know of a cancer survivor that would like to participate in the game by throwing up a ceremonial jump balll at either Varsity game please contact Susan or Dottie. Series: "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do"
A FREE, ongoing, two-part series designed to help parents, families, teens, and people who work with teens learn to understand and identify teen substance abuse problems and take appropriate, timely and effective action to help. This program has been making a difference to families struggling with teen alcohol/other drug use since 1999. Presented by Dawn Farm and Growth Works therapists. The series is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Regional Coordinated School Health Program Advisory Team, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Greenbrook Recovery Center.
     All presentations are free and open to the public. The program is targeted primarily to parents/caretakers of teens but is also inclusive of other family members, teens, people who work with teens, students, and others who are interested for any reason. Registration is not required. People from diverse areas throughout Southeast and Mid-Michigan have attended.
    The programs are presented at the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Education Center, 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti; from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm on the first (Part1) and second (Part2) Tuesday evenings January through June. (Upcoming 2012 dates include: February 7 and 14, March 6 and 13, April 3 and 10, May 1 and 8, and June 5 and 12.)
    Free literature and resource information are provided as elective handouts. Ample free parking is available. We provide a certificate to document attendance on request.
