MULTI-CULT PERFOMING ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA April 20!
Multi- Cult Performing Arts Extravaganza at the Meyer's Auditorium this Friday, April 20th, at 7:00pm. featuring SUMKALI, a local Indian classical, folk and fusion band.
Chinese, Tibid, APEX, African American, and other Huron student acts also featured in a pre-show. Suggested Donation: Adults $10, Students with ID are admitted FREE! Come out and support this fun, unique event benefiting the Senior Grad
 
TECH BOND MEETING APRIL 23 IN CAFETERIA
Dr. Patricia P. Green, Superintendent of Schools, will attend the Huron PTO meeting on April 23, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. to make a presentation about the Technology Bond proposal. On May 8, 2012 voters in the Ann Arbor Public School District will be asked to consider a bond issue to replace aging district technology and provide technology to support its strategic plan for 21st Century Learning.

This Monday, April 23rd Qdoba Mexican Grill will be donating a taco bar for the parents 5:45 p.m. in the Cafeteria!

 SCHOLARSHIP= JUNIORS--ARE YOU INTERESTED IN GOING TO LAWRENCE TECH?
Lawrence Technological University Award For Excellence In Science And Mathematics: $8000 Scholarship for students who wish to attend Lawrence Tech.
Deadline is May 1, 2012.
Criteria:
Be a high school junior in the academic year of 2011 - 2012. Complete at least on year of chemistry or physics and two years of college preparatory mathematics courses with distinction by June 2012. Be an active and responsible citizen of the school and community. Let your Counselor know if you would like to be nominated. Additional information should follow after the nomination.
 
FUNDRAISER - QDOBA
The Class of 2012 All Night Graduation Party is holding a fundraiser at Qdoba on Washtenaw all day on Wed. April 25. 15% of all sales will be earned towards the party as long as a flyer is presented with each order. Wed. April 25 is a half day - a perfect opportunity to have lunch with your friends and help the senior class raise money!  Pick up a copy of the flyer at the General Office or in the 12th Grade Office.
 
ACCEPTANCE WEEK
"In honor of Acceptance Week, Huron's Gay-Straight Alliance will be hosting the Day of Silence on Friday, April 20th. Participants will take a voluntary vow of silence for one school day to raise awareness about the silence caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination against LGBT individuals. Please show your support by signing up to participate outside the cafeteria during lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. Participants will get free candy! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Kubacki or Mr. Williams."
 
COSMETOLOGY FOR NEXT YEAR
Students who applied for Cosmetology for next year!  Interviews with the Cosmetology instructors are next week, Tuesday, April 24.  Remember to bring your completed Cosmetology application with you!  Interviews are in the COE Office.  You should receive an appointment time and a detailed application that you need to fill out today!
 
STUDENT ATHLETES
All interested student-athletes that are going to Michigan and are applying for the  Bob Ufer Scholarship need to turn in applications by this Friday, April 20th at 3 PM to the athletic office.  Don't miss out on this opportunity!  Thank you!  
 
SENIORS
Attn Seniors who ordered graduation announcements:  Graduate Service will be here on Monday during late lunch in the lobby by the Media Center to distribute the orders. After that day, they should be picked up in the 12th Grade Office.

MENTORSHIPS
If you enjoy an intellectual challenges consider MI MENTORSHIPS.  Gifted  students in grades 9-12 spend 8 hours between June 21rd & Aug 23 with a mentor at U-M..  Students will experience first-hand exciting research opportunities.  Choose a Mentorship in engineering, English, science, or the arts.  H.S. students, mentors, &  parents attend a reception on June 21 to plan the sessions.Arranged through the cooperation of  Washtenaw County Alliance for Gifted Ed {WCAGE} & U-M.   Application in Counseling Offices, or  Call Mrs. Fisher, 734.663.1706 8am- 9pm. or wcage@info.org   The program costs $150. This class will get you thinking about possible essay topics to highlight your own characteristics as well as tips to make your applications the best they can be.
