CAR RAFFLE NEWS
The winning ticket for the 2012 Ford Escape XLT was a Sell 6 Tix ticket, sold by parent Lindy Campbell! The name of the winner is Stacey Seaver with ticket number 1733. The Car Raffle brought in a total of $33,251.38 for Huron divided by 4 (between Dr. Williams’ office, Huron Athletic Booster Club, Huron Music Association, and Huron PTSO) = $8,312.85 for each group.
From our early adopters who bought tickets last autumn, to our last minute ticket buyers at the play Saturday night, many thanks to everyone for joining in this fundraising effort. A big shout out to Bill & Lisa Ford for their generous gift of the vehicle and to Mark Doyle at Varsity Ford on Jackson Rd. (markdoyle@ford.com, 3480 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48103) for having the car on site for Huron events. Thanks to our parents & staff for selling tickets!

COSMETOLOGY
Cheers go out to the Cosmetology students from Huron, Siony Cordero-Araya, Sandra Osorio and Vanessa Serrano who participated on Tuesday, in the Skills USA competition where they demonstrated their cosmetology skills against other students from around the region.  They worked hard and the staff at Huron Valley Beauty Academy commended them for their work.  Nice job!

SENIORS
Attention Seniors who have not ordered a cap and gown:  Graduate Service will return on Friday during late lunch to take your cap and gown orders. This will be the last time they will be coming to Huron to take orders. Be sure to turn in your order while they here so that you will save money on shipping and handling costs.

CHALLENGE DAY
Challenge Day at Huron will happen on Monday 3/19.  It is a full school day community building workshop that brings together 100 students from all grade levels (majority will be 9th and 10th grade students this year), 25 upper class student leaders, and 30+ adults who are parents, teachers, counselors, support staff, administrators, professionals from community organizations that work in conjunction with our schools, and other interested community members.  During the workshop, all participants (both students and adults) are lead through a carefully designed series of games, activities and trust building exercises which allow them to explore the ways people separate from each other.  The goal of these powerful and moving exercises is to create a safe and respectful environment in which to learn about and share concerns that are often difficult to talk about.  Participants at Huron's past Challenge Days have found that this workshop is a wonderful way to break down barriers that create separation and replace them with connection. Please contact Linda Hibbs at ldhibbs@comcast.net, (734) 214-5723 for more information.

Please feel free to pass along my contact information for our incoming 9th grade families. We had a tremendous turn out for their program on Feb. 15.

Enjoy the holiday with your great River Rat!
