Course Description |

Interior Design is a one-semester
course which fulfills an elective requirement for graduation from
the Ann Arbor Public Schools. During this course we will cover the
following topics:
- Meaning and History of Shelter: Influences,
needs, and taste
- Architectural Styles: European influences,
regional styles, local architecture
- Understanding architectural/housing plans
- Elements of design: line, form, space, mass,
and texture
- Principals of design: balance, rhythm, variety
and unity
- Color: dimensions, shades, tints
- Textiles and backgrounds
- Furnishings: design, styles, construction,
appliances
- Buying and renting: choices, needs
- Careers: job opportunities related to design,
housing, sales
Students will use a variety
of learning methods in class. Through discussion, lecture, notes,
laboratory, computer research, presentations, quizzes and tests, students
will receive their grade for this class.
