Pioneer Honors for the 2006-2007 year:

 

ACADEMIC

National Merit Scholars

 

Thirty one Pioneer students were National Merit Scholarship Finalists this year. Three Pioneer students
were recipients of these prestigious scholarships.

 

MUSIC

Band

Symphony Band and Concert Band both received excellent (1) ratings at the District Band Festival.

 

At the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Solo and Ensemble Festival, an impressive 62 Pioneer band members received #1 ratings for their solo performances, and 49 received #1 ratings for ensemble performances.  An additional 18 band members received #2 ratings for solos, while 7 received #2 ratings for their ensembles.

 

Orchestra

 

At the State Solo and Ensemble Festival, 27 orchestra solos and ensembles received excellent ratings; 7 received good ratings.

 

The Symphony Orchestra won the Festivals of Music competition in Montreal in April!  Pioneer's Chamber Orchestra came in 3rd in that competition.  The Pioneer Orchestras also won the 'Esprit de Corps' Award for demonstrating exemplary behavior and citizenship during the festival.

 

Vocal Music

 

Two Pioneer High School Choirs had excellent results at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association State Choir Festival
 Bel Canto and A Capella received #1 ratings in both performance and sight singing.

 

Thirteen members of the Pioneer Choirs participated in the Michigan School Vocal Music Association State Solo and Ensemble Festival .  10 performers received excellent, (1), ratings. 

 

Ten members of the Pioneer Choirs were selected to participate in the Michigan School Vocal Music Association All State SATB  and SSA      (Junior High) Honors Choirs.

 

CLUBS

Robotics

The Pioneer High Robotics Club, Samurai, won the Great Lakes regional competition and advanced to the National / International competition   in Atlanta, Georgia.
