PHILOSOPHY

The Media Center program embraces literacy in all its expressions, encourages life-long learning, ensures individual rights of freedom to information, advances one's knowledge as a teaching center, and expands one's awareness about the use of information in a global world.
The Media Center is an information center where users seek out information, and synthesize or analyze information for presentation in final product form - be it oral, written, or visual. Its focus transcends both time and place.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Pioneer High School Media Center is:

- to provide a developmentally appropriate, prepared learning environment with diversified and varied materials and resources to promote lifelong learning and literacy.

- to teach students not only how to retrieve, interpret, and synthesize information from a variety of informational sources but also to make critical decisions regarding the information's value.

Therefore, the Pioneer High School Media Center is a place which provides equity and freedom of access to information; provides service to all curricular areas; supports individual needs, instructs classes in the usage of informational skills; and celebrates the enjoyment of reading.
