Students Changing Buildings Between Years

Unlike SASI, PowerSchool does not have a separate set of files for each school year. Instead, there is a Scheduling Setup page which we use to indicate where the students' records will end up in the following school year. If a student is transferring to your building for 08-09, you should contact their current school to change the settings on the Scheduling Setup page. They do NOT need to drop the student as with SASI!

Look up an individual student and scroll ALL the way to the bottom of the left column. At the very bottom is Scheduling Setup. Three key items are noted on this screen which will affect whether and where the student record will show up for scheduling in the next school year:

Next Year Grade: use this field to advance or retain a student; use 99 for graduates

Schedule This Student: if clicked, the student will appear in PowerScheduler; if a student will not be returning next year, unclick this box

Next School Indicator: If the student is staying in your building, you need not change this but if the student is transferring to another school you should switch the building here so that the receiving building will be able to see and schedule the incoming student. You may also indicate that the student should be transferred to the Archive building in the event they are leaving the district and will not be in any of our buildings in the next school year.
