Meet Our Language Instructors

Clara Gonzalez has been teaching Spanish for over 20 years, including 10 years for Rec & Ed. She was born in Bogata, Columbia, Sra. and received her BA in Sociology and Spanish from Eastern Michigan University.
Clara enjoys teaching Spanish because she feels that learning a foreign language is like opening a door to another culture. She draws on her own experience in learning a second language to help her students feel comfortable acquiring new skills.

George Hinman - lived and studied in Germany for 7 years. While there, he taught German to service men and women for the Department of Defense while attending Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. He has a Masters in German Language and a PHD in German Linguistics from the University of Michigan. He possesses several years of experience teaching German in classrooms and privately.

Alice Chang is a native of Taiwan and came to the US in 1987. She holds a Masters degree from Purdue University. She has been teaching Chinese language classes for Rec & Ed since 2004.

Kiyoe Ise came to this country as a visiting student over 40 years ago. She has taught Japanese language classes for Rec & Ed for 15 years.

Stephanie Wichmann teaches ESL classes. She holds a Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and currently teaches English as a second language to adults in the community education, and college settings. She also teaches English Composition at a local college.
Stephanie has a B.A. in French and is currently finishing her Masters in French Language.
