Your Genes and Your Health Connected is a week-long half-day summer camp for students who will be entering 9th-12th grades in the 2012-13 school year. It includes fun, interactive lectures and hands-on computer-based research for the coming era of medical genomics.

Monday – Friday, August 20-24

12:30 PM – 4:15 PM

at Rec&Ed on 1515 S. Seventh, Ann Arbor, MI 48103

Fee: $185

Students will learn basic concepts of genomics, their implications for diseases, and how to present findings using PowerPoint. Each student will choose, research, and present on a disease of interest. Following presentations, students will vote on a single disease to focus on as a group. Each student will be taught to use software and databases to investigate the elected disease and will be assigned one gene related to the disease. At the end of the week, each student will suggest a way of preventing the disease based on the week’s research and connect it with others’ methods. The program will be directed by Dr. Inhan Lee of miRcore.
