The Civic Chorus is pleased to announce that they will have the pleasure of collaborating with the Ann Arbor Civic Theater for their Spring performance in 2013. The chorus will serve as an onstage chorus for the musical "Chess".

The Ann Arbor Civic Chorus is a program of Ann Arbor Public Schools, Community Education & Recreation. The group was formed in 1983, when some citizens led by Ruth Kenny approached the department to create a chorus for area residents. Ruth directed the group for 7 years. She was followed by Rebecca Vlisides who was choral director for 19 years before stepping down in spring of 2009. The current music director is Linda Jones, who took over in fall of 2009. Throughout its rich history, the Ann Arbor Civic Chorus has developed a reputation for entertaining, high quality performances that include a wide range of musical selections. The chorus has weekly rehearsals and offers two free concerts each year.

Linda Jones, Director

  Choral Director:

Linda Jones has a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Texas. She has also trained at the Voice Care Network. She brings a wealth of experience in working with a variety of choirs in the Ann Arbor area. She has taught music in schools for 16 years.
